The bird below has gone missing at The Milleridge Inn, a historic Long Island restaurant, and the owners of the centuries-old Inn are offering a reward for its safe return.
The Milleridge Inn is offering a $500 reward — or dinner for 10 — for the safe return of the 300-pound sculpture of a rooster that was lifted sometime this weekend from its longtime roost.
“We would love to have the rooster back. The rooster didn’t just walk off,” said Owen Smith, the proprietor of the Milleridge Inn for the past 50 years.
Bernadette Smith, Mr. Smith’s wife, said in a statement that she’s sad “anyone would take our rooster.”
“He is a big part of the Milleridge family as our chefs, servers and support staff,”she said.
